Aberdeen, MD (April 28, 2025) – Attain Sports and the Aberdeen IronBirds, High-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, are pleased to announce the appointment of Scott Proefrock as Interim General Manager. Proefrock brings more than three decades of leadership experience in professional baseball to Aberdeen, with a career distinguished by success at both the Major and Minor League levels.
Most recently, Proefrock was the President of the New England Knockouts, a member of the Frontier League. Prior to that, he spent 13 seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies, where he served as both Interim General Manager and Assistant General Manager. During his tenure, Proefrock played an instrumental role in the Phillies’ multiple postseason runs and contributed significantly to the organization’s sustained success. His career also includes front office roles with the Baltimore Orioles, Tampa Bay Rays, Atlanta Braves, and Pittsburgh Pirates, highlighting his deep and well-rounded expertise in baseball operations at every level.
Proefrock now brings his full-circle perspective back to Minor League Baseball with the IronBirds. His experience, passion for the game, and strategic leadership are expected to drive continued growth and success for the Aberdeen community and its beloved ball club.
“We are thrilled to welcome Scott to the IronBirds family,” said Greg Baroni, CEO and Managing Partner of Attain Sports, owner of the IronBirds. “Scott’s extensive background in both Major and Minor League Baseball, combined with his leadership and commitment to excellence, make him a great fit to guide the IronBirds forward. We are excited for what’s ahead under his leadership.”
Proefrock expressed his excitement about joining the organization, saying,
“I'm honored to step into this role with the IronBirds and to return to the roots of what makes baseball so special — community, player development, and creating memorable experiences for our fans. I'm excited to work alongside the outstanding team here in Aberdeen and to help build on the strong foundation that has already been established.”
The IronBirds are already underway in their 2025 season at Ripken Stadium, with a full summer of exciting baseball ahead. Fans are encouraged to come out to the ballpark, meet Proefrock, and be part of all the action and energy in Aberdeen.
